It's Springtime

Spring for me me begins when the daffodils bloom. They're blooming.

Spent some time in the garden today moving a couple of plants and cutting back a climbing rose, Golden Showers. It was the first year I've had winter die back on this rose. I also trimmed back a miniature rose that had become infested with a white scale. I've seen this scale on holly but this is the first time I've seen it on a rose.  After cutting it back I used a paint stirring stick to scrape the rest off.  I'll keep a closer eye on it this year and keep them scraped off before they become this thick.
Cleaned up and cut back to just a couple of inches.
A new red camellia is blooming now.
The Okame Cherry' has been blooming for about two weeks now.

Edgeworthy buds are opening too.

  1. Your Cherry tree in enviable! Lovely. The rose infestation is pretty severe, wow.

  2. I think Okame's are my favorite cherries, mainly because they bloom so early, but that have a nice shape as well.
