Spring Parade of Color

Spring has arrived. There is color everywhere. Nothing like a couple days of mild temps and a day of soaking rain to make the garden come alive. I took the first three pics two days apart of my dwarf flowering crabapple. This little tree is 25 years old and was my 45th birthday tree. I plant a birthday tree every 5 years. It is in heavy bloom this year.

Once Muscari naturalizes and spreads it is a stunning mass of blue.
It took a couple of years but this woodland phlox has filled in a difficult spot in my garden.
Some tulips from the church garden.

Another shrub that looks better than in the past years is forsythia.
This woodland rhododendron is a scraggly looking bush but it always blooms.
And lastly the eastern redbuds are in full bloom this week also.

  1. I think the cold weather actually benefited some of the plants, at least bloom-wise.
